
Siemens Mobility triumphed in the Automation Technology of the Year category with its Visicon Singulator, which uses advanced technology for singulation that can handle throughput intelligently, gently and quietly. Bernd Ruppert, VP of cargo and parcel, Siemens AG, accepted the award and commented: "This is great recognition for the Visicon Singulator and for the company as a whole."
USPS came out on top in the Environmental Achievement of the Year award. Sam Pulcrano, VP of sustainability, said: "We are very pleased to be receiving one of the first Postal Technology International awards. It is great recognition on an international level."
In the Transport/Logistics Innovation of the Year category Iveco triumphed with its Blue&Me Fleet, developed alongside Qualcomm. This has helped many fleet managers reduce fuel costs, improve driver performance and increase efficiency.
The Delivery Innovation of the Year category saw joint winners First Ondemand and Netdespatch collect the award. Matthew Robertson, commercial director at Netdesptach, stated that they believe this "innovative new product is the first of its kind on the market and both companies have great plans for it in the postal sector."
Crisplant won the sought-after Supplier of the Year award. Collecting the award on behalf of the company was Manfred Schmidt: "Our new 'green' sorter has proved extremely popular in the postal industry and we hope this award will increase its popularity further."
Lastly, the CEO of Poste Italiane, Massimo Sarmi, arrived just in time to collect the postal organisation's Service Provider of the Year award. Poste Italiane came out on top due to its innovative nature and its ability to continue growing despite falling mail volumes.

The 13th annual Post Expo exhibition and conference, held on 29, 30 September and 1 October 2009 in Hannover saw a host of new products and solutions launched, and many new contracts announced. The show was attended by visitors from around the world, including from Botswana, France, Brazil, Hong Kong, Malaysia and South Africa.
Held alongside the exhibition, the conference saw presentations from leading industry experts, providing their valuable insight into some of the most important issues within the industry. Topics covered included transport and logistics, mobile technology solutions, efficiency and optimisation, automation, the environment, retail and customer solutions, and the economy.
